Bigger tank for your TTR?

Kia ora all,

Has anyone had any experience with an acerbis tank cracking? I'm not talking about in an unintentional dismount, I mean with age or something.
I got a 2nd hand xr acerbis tank and fitted it with the adapters from totally ttr. After a few weeks (not riding it much, need to use other bike for work) I noticed a strong fuel smell, then noticed pink residue on thee tank. I took the tank off and there are tiny cracks all over the part where the tank meets the frame where fuel leaks out. I can't find any mention of this sort of thing with a Google search.
Any ideas?

Cheers,

First time I have heard of a problem, was the tank very old?

Not sure how old it was, was a bit yellow rather than white and the pet****s were a bit buggered so I'm guessing fairly old.

Just seen some photos of XR250 tanks fitted - see below.

Would need some front support brackets making. Fits well to seat apparently. Only issue mentioned is that the XR fuel tap may hit the throttle on the carb.
