Vibrations
(Preview)
Hi all - another question from me regarding my recently purchased TTR. There's more vibrations than I expected at higher revs. I've done basic checks for loose bolts/nuts etc. Is there anything else I should check ? What's the 'standard' for the bike in terms of smoothness across the revs ? It's felt t...

Hi all, new TTR owner, first question! I'm going trail riding in the Alps in 2 weeks time, I've been doing it for years, mainly BMW airheads, XT600's and Dominators. Some of the trails can get quite technical but there have always been many hands to help manhandle heavy bikes. Low Oil
(Preview)
Hi all - I've recently bought a TTR. Went to change the oil and was unhappy to see the level was v low (prob about 500ml) and old and black. Nothing bad on the sump plug or in the filter (filter had some silver deposits - like you see on a bike's first service). Bike seems to run ok-ish but wondered if there's a...

Worn footpeg hole
(Preview)
So I got a new spring for my foot peg but it was still loose. I noticed the pin that goes through the footpeg was flapping about inside the holes on the lug which the peg attaches to. So I looked at it and thought what could I do to fix it? So this is what I did... Found a perfect size bolt that fitted in the hole....

Question.... Is it normal for the clutch to be affected by overheating the bike on trails like this? A few times now, in tough conditions, I have felt the clutch springs lose some tension. Before I changed out the clutch parts, I had an incident where in snow and mud, the clutch gave out completely and f...

Fixing Ride Height/rear Shock

So, I have already caused much head scratching with Brian and mate Steve (also has TTR) as I try to fix a very low ride height issue on my TTR (which I believe is a US spec machine) At first I thought I had a lowering link fitted but this is not the case - 2 photos show the difference between my TTR and a "n...

Thought about it a few times as to the direction of oil flow in the TTR. After the oil pump what route does the oil get pumped around the engine ? I believe there's a strainer that the oil would flow to before it reaches the filter ?

Oil drain plug repair with teflon tape?
(Preview)
Hello guys, So the last time I changed the oil, the drain plug inner thread (engine side) was stripped. I had no other choice but to drill the hole and re-thread it. Since I had to do it manually, the thread was far from perfect, but the new oversized drain plug goes in fine. However, the oil still leaks out...
