I have installed a new GS GT7B-4 battery on my 350 but I experience a cut off while cranking (possibly strain on the sprag as well). What is the best battery upgrade, in terms of reliability, compatibility and longevity?
I have read that lithium replacements can get damaged from the old school regulator's spikes, any thoughts/experience?
How many CCAs are enough? Some suggest Motobatt MB7U but it has only 100 CCA vs 110 OEM.
I'm running a Yuasa YT7B-BS which I bought for 50 quid 2 years ago and it still works fine, didn't notice a difference when I went from 250 to 350 with it. Spec says 110CCA
Yuasa here too. I don't think the Motobatts are worth the money, and are actually less long lasting than Yuasa. I only know of one user who tried Lithium and while it worked over a few months, he left the bike for a few more months and the battery had failed, so not exactly a positive review! I would also check the starter motor brushes. It should not be cutting out, and the compression ratio of the 350 is the same as stock so there should not be any more strain than normal.

Thanks for the input guys!
It cuts out only the first time I push the ignition button (and the digital speedometer resets) but not always, about 50% of the cases. The second button push is successful.
Brushes are good, I opened and cleaned the ignition switch, checked battery terminals and grounding, new battery.
If anyone has another suggestion pls share.
