Just thought I'd put a quick post in as there seems to be a few issues with this.
My bike was having issues returning to a normal idle when coming to a stop. (It stayed high or took a while to return or needed a blip to return it to normal)
I had previously rebuilt it with an 'All Balls' kit.
After trying all the obvious things I eventually pulled the carb completely down.
Everything looked OK until I got the slide linkage arm out.
There was a small spring that was between 2 pins. One end of this small spring had come off one of the pins.
(Actually it looked like one end had stretched and come off. )
I didn't have a replacement so I just bent it back into place and refitted it.
After a bit of researching..
"The small spring situated between the two pins on the carburetor slide linkage arm serves to eliminate mechanical slack, reduce free play (anti-backlash), and prevent throttle slide flutter."
Key Functions of the Linkage Spring
Takes up tolerances: The Teikei Y30P carburetor uses a multi-piece mechanical linkage with pins to actuate the throttle slide. This spring keeps continuous tension on the mating joints to remove any manufacturing gaps or wear-induced play.
Stabilizes the throttle slide: Engine intake pulses create strong vacuum fluctuations that pull on the slide. The spring keeps the linkage tightly preloaded so the slide cannot vibrate, rattle, or flutter inside the carburetor body.
Ensures crisp throttle response: By removing the "dead zone" or lag between the upper actuator arm and the lower slide assembly, any movement from your throttle cable results in immediate, precise fuel metering.
If this spring is missing, stretched, or improperly positioned, the bike may experience a laggy throttle response, a erratic or hanging idle, or increased mechanical wear on the linkage pivot pins over time.
Turned out this was my problem. Bike runs perfectly now.
Just for a bit of info because I couldn't find any reference to it on here or even in the workshop manual.
