Before I put my 1995 TTR250 Open Enduro on the road I am going to replace the following parts:
Timing Chain = 945-91431-22-00
chain guide (exhaust side) = 4GY-12251-00-00
chain guide (intake side) = 4GY-12252-00-00
Piston (Standard) = 4GY-11631-00-C0
Piston Rings (Standard) = 4GY-11603-00-00
Piston Pin = 30X-11633-03-00
Should I buy original Yamaha parts or are aftermarket good these days? For example this timing chain here: https://www.mxstore.com.au/p/A1-Yamaha-TTR250-94-12-122-Link-Cam-Chain/40-82R2010-122?srsltid=AfmBOoqD0zQiOyQAe4HP7W34LSBG__yiRb-pWzi5Z3XSQ3MV0ps9trX8
I'm staying away from eBay and I might get a forged piston instead of cast piston can someone please tell me a good quality forged piston brand, thank you Shaun.
I would be wary of aftermarket engine internal parts like cam chain and guides, having had bad experiences of ill fitting and poor quality, so for those I would definitely go OEM.
For the piston, OEM is fine, but Wiseco and Wossner are both good quality makes that I have used in the past.
Thank you mossproof do you know if new OEM parts from a 2000 TTR250 are compatible with a 1995 TTR250, I have found this Yamaha parts dealer https://yamaha-motor.com/motorcycle/TT-R250/2000 but they dont have any parts for a 1995 they only have parts for a 2000 and onwards
Hi ive just fit a wossner first oversize, had it bored and honed, the piston is quality lightweight racing,Try and buy all the parts you need from the ttr shop Steve only sells quality.
