Missing check valve
Permalink

I just purchased a 2002 TTR250  I took apart my carb for cleaning and I noticed when putting it back together that the check valve that sits in the bowl is missing. Before, the bike was running poorly. Im not sure if the valve fell out when I was cleaning it, or if I bought it that way. Could the poor running be caused by that missing valve? Also am I still able to ride without that valve? I had a group trip coming up this weekend and I really wouldn’t want to miss out on that as the replacement valve isn’t going to get here in time. I attached a picture for reference as to which part it is. Thank you

The check valve in the float bowl is part of the pumper circuit, so I think the pumper will not operate properly, ie not giving that extra burst of fuel when you twist the throttle. If you enjoy pulling the carb in and out, I don't think it would hurt to try it just to know how much difference it makes, but it definitely won't have the proper acceleration response, and will run a bit lean momentarily (when twisting the grip) which is not a good idea long-term.
