I see from the Gov.UK site that my 1999 TTR250 is not ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) compliant and hence will cost me £12.50 a ride the I get it going again. Just wondering if anyone (London based) has any experience of getting their bikes tested and then getting compliant some how???
Unfortunately it appears the test centre I used in Stevenage is no longer open following a quick online search.
18 months on and I have no regrets, even though I probably haven’t recovered the entire cost of the test with trips into the zone (I don’t commute and own other bikes.)
Just nice to not be concerned about it when I’m out for a ride as I live less than a mile from the ULEZ boundary.
Good luck with your own bike if you decide to give it a go.
Can take it to deligated TFL test station and that will cost you 175 pound, takes 10 minutes and no bike fails, one at Depford SE London.
I use a route to get out of the ulez zone that has no cameras or they are smashed chopped down or burnt down, normally end up at Pilgrims way at Wrotham.
If feel the need to use on road in London I,ll get it tested, but out of principle I would rather not give TFL anything.
