Exhaust header touching oil pipe bolt
Permalink

I noticed that the shorty header pipe is touching the oil pipe bolt on the right case cover. Could it cause any problem? I don't want to undo the header bolts unless absolutely necessary because one is helicoiled and if it fails the repair will be troublesome. Helicoil cannot be used again...

Hi Christos

Can you not undo the good bolt a little and then try to twist the header a fraction, this should make it clear the bolt.

Hi Steve,

Nice idea, thanks! If I leave it as it is do you think it will cause any problem though?

Can't see the bolt wearing through the header, or the header damaging the bolt, it must only be touching a little ? but then vibration could cause some wear?

I would try Steve's 1-bolt solution, but I don't think there will be much wear, and if there is it will be easy to spot after 1 ride.
