The dt speedo I assume will run off the front wheel with a cable drive but not sure what you need

My ttr is a blue with a cable drive .

Hi, yes mine has the magnet speedo, I am wanting to put a cable operated speedo. Think I need to put under the wanted section, looking for cable operated speedo, cable and wheel drive.

This comes from the FAQ page:

www.ttr250.com/

I think the only snag is that pre 2000 bikes do not have the casting on the wheel hub than interlocks with the speedo drive, but I am prepared to be corrected...

Aaah yeah, I never thought of that, I'll look at my white ttr front wheel tomorrow and see if there's tags for the Speedo drive...

If not I'll have to get another wheel too or a trail tech or similar.

My purple front wheel has the castings on the wheel hub to turn the speedo, thought all hubs have these?? (bri)

The forks on the early bikes don't have the lug that stops the gear housing turning.

Yep - you are right Steve. All TTR wheels, whether purple or silver , have the same casting and can accommodate the drive.

TBH, once installed there is very little trying to turn the drive. REmember it's going to be fairly well anchored by the speedo cable anyways. But, if you were worried, it would be quite simple to put something on the fork leg using a Jubilee clip to stop it moving.

That's right Brian. I knew there was a lug-problem somewhere, just couldn't remember where!
Amazing how much stuff you put in those FAQ pages that people forget about. Is there any way of emphasizing their existence somehow?
