Heel Toe shifter for a TTR250
Permalink

I know this is a reach, due to a progressive neuropathy issue, I am no longer have the ankle strength to shift anymore. Down shifting isn't the issue, up shifting is. I've tried Kliktronic electric shifter on a different bike in the past, they are geared more for street bikes. I am thinking my only other choice is to fab up some type of heel toe shifter, looking for any advice.

Does anyone know the size of the spline, I may try and order something online and tweak it. Attached is a picture of one that I might be able to re-work

I think your best option would be to weld a heel shifter to the existing lever. The route it will have to take to avoid the footpeg will need some imaginative bends and twists but I think it it doable.

Welding it to an originalĀ  sounds good . I've had to lift my leg to change up for years since an accident cut the nerves to my lower legĀ  cant move my toes and ankle . Now having similar trouble but it's affecting my ballence .

All the best and keep on riding .

Hey Steve,
There could be an opportunity for a new Product here !
Some of the TTR Owner/Riders are getting long in the tooth (myself at 71 but luckily still flexible of the Left Hand Foot) so this might be worthy of a discussion with your Famous Devon Engineers to manufacture.
Cheers
Jeff

I think I may have figured out a way to do this, I will post a picture when I am done. I am going to try and use the swing arm bolt as a pivot point.

Well, I think I got it all fabricated up, it seems to work well, 1st draft, may make some changes. Anyway, I will have to wait to try it out after I finish rebuilding my carburetor.
