2003 TTR Suspension Upgrades
Permalink

Morning all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of successfully upgrading the suspension on their bikes? The front end tends to be a bit twitchy with the whole set up being very soft. I know it’s a trail bike, but the front does tend to ‘dive’. Can you buy upgraded springs in the UK? I’m around 90 kg without kit.

Thanks,

Mark

Have you tried the easy tweaks like adding some air pressure in forks?  Raising the fork oil levels?  Changing fork oil viscocity?

I run 10wt fork oil at 120mm from the top with the clickers in the middle.  Still will dive but not as bad plus it is much more controlled and planted.

Hi, thanks for the info! I’ve not tried anything yet, I’ve sold my ktm 250 and am currently looking to resurrect the family TTR haha! It’s a very clean bike, but I can remember the suspension being very vague at times!

Correct springs would be your first step for your weight.
Teknik link attached suggests a .45 front spring. I ran a .48by memory, helps hold the fork up higher so plusher.

I raised the fork oil 10 mm took most of the dive out .

Back end a wr piston has been fitted inside the shock

Not much dive and the back tracks straight .I find  On longer rides 400k plus its not as comfy as stock
