I recently bought my first TTR OE (through the forum and from member Rob). I took it out on it's first outing recently and i'm surely converted!
Now, I'm 6"5 and about 100KG and wondered if any one had advice for modifications for a vertically abnormal height such as mine? My local garage pumped up the forks and adjusted the spring as much as possible for my weight (and also said this bike was truly loved - thanks Rob) but any other tips would be appreciated!
I'm going to put higher bars on (also because I would prefer slightly less of a sweep than stock, and a wider bar) so will need a longer clutch cable and throttle cable.
Unfortunately Steve doesn't have extra long throttle cables in stock (he does have clutch cables) so I was wondering if anyone knew where else I might pick some up?
Thanks for all the help this forum provides and I'll get photos uploaded soon!
If the shock is raised as high as it can sensibly go then the easy route has been taken and you are left with more involved measures to raise the seat height.
You will find higher/wider bars to be a good help.
These are other possible ways forward to gain height:
a) Extra foam in the seat
b) Lower the footpegs to reduce knee bend
c) The swingarm/shock/frame linkage arm could be modified with a longer drop arm. Wouldn't take much to get a lot of extra height. Modified (shortened) links are usually sold to lower the bike (see here) so the opposite is definitely possible if you know someone good with a lathe and milling machine Maybe KoubaLink would do you a "special"?
Steve - I have the email notifier on so will order some as soon as they arrive!
Brian - thanks for the advice. I'll definitely sort the bars as a first port of call. Rob was kind enough to include a RAID tank and seat so I think I'll try and put some extra foam in the RAID seat and put both on at some point.
