Oil leak from starter motor cover
Permalink

Hi, I noticed an oil leak only when the bike was running. I think it's coming from the cover where the start connects to the engine.

I've had a look at the O-ring and it appears to be fine but I've ordered a replacement anyway (2mm Section 76mm Bore NITRILE 70 Rubber O-Rings from Simply Bearings) to be on the safe side.

Has anyone had anything similar happen?

Anywhere else I should be looking?

Also, does anyone have an exploded view of how I put the cogs back together. I might have.... put them down.... in no specific order... blankstare

Very unusual for that O ring to leak - not heard of it happening before confuse

Are you sure the casing isn't cracked as can happen if a worn sprag clutch allows kickbacks?
