shock shaft rechroming

Hi all, does anyone have a lead on companies that would rechrome a shock shaft in hard chrome? I have a shock in need of getting this done on a bike i have but cannot get it done here in Ireland.

Martinm had his shock rebuilt with a new rod by Brooks - see https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/

Shock shaft needs a regrind and hard chroming - who does this work please?

My brother-in-law's (Keith) shock started to leak oil. We just pulled it out and cleaned it up and, sadly, the chrome is damaged on the shock shaft.
 
Can anyone recommend from personal experience a reliable firm to regrind and rechrome it please?
 
Alternatively has anyone got a shaft in good condition they would sell either on its own or with the rest of the shock?

just looked on ebaylook like rocking horse s it bet you wished you saved one or two but who knows in eyensight

Brian this is the outfit (Bristol based) that Henry Cole has used on The Motorbike Show for some of his restoration projects. Might be worth an enquiry.

I had the shaft on my dr250 rear shock re chromed great result worked fine for the following couple of years unitll I sold the bike recently

After a lot of research, Keith found a suspension specialist who said they farmed this sort of work out. Keith was lucky enough that they told him who they used wink

The firm is Dynasurf, Springvale Industrial Estate Millbuck Way, Sandbach CW11 3GQ

The shaft has just been returned and looks perfect.

Total cost was £80.33 (Carriage up £5.33 using Evri, carriage back £15.00, re-chrome £60.00)

As new shock absorbers are no longer available from Yamaha and good second-hand shocks become harder to find, this may become a solution for owners.

Hope that may help someone.
