New to me 2000 model TTR250

Hello from Tasmania, Australia.

I have ridden various bikes in my 40-odd years of riding, starting with a XR200RD when I got my license at the age of 16 to my last bike, a 2022 Versys 300X which I couldn't justify sitting unused in the garage, so I sold it and started looking for a road trail bike with electric start, and kick start, my choices and budget were limited to $3k AUD and I found one in Victoria which I have purchased and hope to have shipped to me this coming Thursday.

The bike is in fairly tidy original condition with a new sticker kit and seat cover, needs indicators and some dot approved tyres, then I can get it registered and on the road to explore local trails and forestry roads. The seller seems to think the sprag clutch may need replacing, will check this once the bike arrives. I downloaded the instructions for this procedure and saved the forum page with all the info needed.

I have spent a huge amount of time reviewing articles on this forum and the websites associated with the TTR, and found a great Aussie forum on advrider.

Excited to have another project bike to ride and play with.

Enjoy the ttr  if there is any doubt replace the sprag a bit pricey but much cheaper than leaving it too long like I did ended up needing gears and a starter as well

Thanks for the welcome Brian, this is a great site with a plethora of bike-specific information.

I made a workstand for the bike on Saturday and started pulling parts off, then pulled the sprag clutch assembly on Sunday and found a great price for genuine parts at Webike Japan, $180 AUD delivered, much better than $315-$499 from Yamaha dealers.

I have ordered general service items also and will give the bike some much-needed love before riding it.
