Popping on deceleration/overrun
Permalink

Ive recently replaced the lower carb o-rings, seal and diaphragm and set up the carb with 50 pilot, I think 142 or 147 main (couldn't read clearly) with pilot screw 2 turns out,  twin air filter (snorkel still present) and dominator end can. It starts up almost immediately but the popping on the overrun seems a bit excessive when using engine braking, clutch in deceleration is a lot less obtrusive.

Is this common or should I be looking at a smaller main jet? Don't really want to pull the carb out again if i don't have to.

Bike seems to pull ok and will lift the front from standstill if setting off a little enthusiastically

Sounds to me like it's running a bit lean from the Dominator end can.

Looks like you could be right as after I rode it for a bit more i noticed ithe popping was at its worst at low speed/rpm so I started playing with the pilot screw. It appears better with a bit of a richer mix (around 2.25/2.5 turns).

Cheers
