on my last trip. I was surprised/disappointed by the stability in the sand. the 250 ttr is a short motorcycle. I decided to fit a steering damper and lengthen the swingarm (3 cm) at the same time to fit a wrf wheel and its 245 mm disc.
fork and a wheel 250 WRF 2008 and Ohlins shock purchased during a TTR 250 white that made the race paris dakar (check serial numbers in ohlins France at PFP). tough off road / good for road and travel
Well My plan was to do it all in 6 months. But I have had several issues: work/travelling and above all a robbery of my material at my workshop. The insurace finally have paid part of it. Back to the project. For now, slowly slowly, I only have bought the pieces for the project. Included a 2 shock absorbers Ohlins from Gas Gas nearly new that I have adapted to my TTR for the length, hydraulic and the spring. For now I'm traying it on my TTR and so far perfect.
Impressive ambition. I think you might regret the seat though, especially if the bike is more stable allowing you to sit down more often.
I would love to see some pictures of you and the bike in Mauritania!
there will be two ttr 250 the current one will stay like that. can be the ohlin gas shock absorber and the lithium battery instead of the toolbox in a fiberglass case.
2024 and 2023 I traveled alone. difficult to take photos with me on the bike
'73 RD250, '80 XS1100, '81 RD373LC, '96 Tiger 900/sidecar, '02 TTR250, and another XS11 - this time a chain drive Period 5 race bike that may be ready to race eventually.
totally satisfied with the modification. not essential just for the pleasure of the modification. my last modification (the gas gas shock absorber is also a success) I am totally satisfied with it. I placed the battery (lithium) in the original toolbox (after two inconclusive fiberglass tests). if you have any questions. I will be happy to inform
sorry for my english. lots of modifications. almost all gas gas shock absorbers (125/200/250/300 2 stroke) measure 43 cm, you have to extend to 45 cm with a spacer. extend the adjustment rod by the same value. redo the lower and upper rings. and especially modify the ttr connecting rod so that the adjustment wheel does not touch (i will send photos of the ohlins made for ttr and the gas gas) it is a financially unfeasible operation if you go through a professional.
