Suzuki street scrambler swop/trade for a TT-R [Stroud, Glos]

Looking to swop or trade with a TT-R250. Located Stroud, Gloucestershire...

If you're looking for an affordable classic look scrambler, the Suzuki Grass Tracker 250 is a great choice. Simple mechanicals, a pleasure to ride plus looks and sounds the part. And if you're looking for a Grass Tracker, the one to have is the Big Boy which scores over the standard one in having bigger wheels - 18 inch rear and 19 inch front with wider rims, a wider swinging arm (so the rear takes a full 4x18 tyre quite happily), beefier front forks and the same twin pot front brake as the Suzuki SV650. Electric start and kick start, with a decompressor. With the big battery on it, this bike starts on the button every time.

This is my Grass Tracker, built in Japan in 2003, bought direct from the importer and then recommissioned and UK registered by myself in 2019. The refurbishment comprised:

  • Front brake overhauled with caliper repair kit, new pads and obviously brake fluid replaced completely
  • Front forks overhauled with fresh oil (bought seals but not needed so supplied with the bike for future use)
  • Fork gaiters and stainless clips fitted for that classic look (fork tubes are 100% good, you're welcome to check)
  • Rear hub cush drive rubbers replaced and brake drum de-glazed
  • Wheel rims refurbished, new tapes, tubes and brand new Heidenau K60 tyres fitted as per BMW GS 1250 sizes
  • Carb cleaned and new float bowl seal fitted
  • New oiled foam air filter
  • Seat re-covered
  • New spark plug
  • Fresh oil and filter
  • Rear light bracket strengthened and new super bright LED rear light fitted for safety
  • Renthal aluminium scrambler bars and cross brace fitted, along with new Doherty classic grips
  • All outer engine cover screws replaced with stainless
  • The biggest new MotoBatt AGM battery I could squeeze in and a new fixing strap
  • Just given it fresh oil again
It already had the nice after market stainless 2 into 1 exhaust and stainless Super Trapp style silencer when I bought it. This is also the twin-port engine which has a bit more horsepower than the later single port TU250s. The bike has a really nice patina which I chose not to destroy in recommissioning so I often get asked if it's a British 1960s bike. It sounds absolutely right with the silencer that came with the bike. Tank is a slightly metallic bronze. Frame is the original silver/grey and mudguards original satin black. I did the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2019 on it and felt very much at home with the classic bikes.

MoT to 30th June and I can't see it would want anything done for another one then. Speedo looks original to me and reads 26,350 Kms which is 16,373 miles, all consistent with past MoTs and first registration in UK. V5 here, with me as the only UK owner. Cheap to tax and insure, learner legal. Comes with a spare oil filter, a new custom made braided front brake hose, a spare fork gaiter, spare plug, set of new EBC uprated clutch springs, set of fork seals, indicator relay, a mirror, the original chainguard, a new throttle cable, etc. - at least £150 worth of parts. One of the easiest Japanese import bikes to get spares for as the engine, electrics and rear hub/brake are all GN250 parts and the front brake is an SV650 part. Plenty of suppliers in Japan still offering aftermarket bits too as these are really popular bikes.

Priced very realistically to sell at £2450 - the current importer prices are around a grand more than this one for the less good standard model without the hundreds of £s worth of of service parts and extras which have gone into this one. Be quick and don't miss it, there's a summer of fun in this bike!

I'm looking for an equally honest TTR and would swop or deal with cash either way, as appropriate.
