Hi Rossyboys, I'm afraid I'm no help with your questions as I've not had to re-pack mine yet and I'm too far away to be able to suggest a pipe bending venue, but I am happy to help with any measurements or additional photos if of any use?

Here in Sydney NSW Australia we have gone down into lockdown due to covid cases. We are getting btw 180-230 new case every day for the past 4 weeks. Its that new delta strain.

Keep safe over in the UK. When I am finished Ill post the results

Hi Rossyboys, sorry for the delay, hopefully the attached pictures will be of some use, the squares on the background are 100mm x 100mm but the perspective from the camera angle is a bit deceptive so only good for a rough guide.

Measurement X on your drawing is 150mm, the second measurement 'b' is 45mm.

You will see that I have mine mounted outboard of the frame, and pannier bracket, hence the need for a small wooden heat resistant spacer between the can and plastic side panel. The outside of the can hanger is 5mm inset from the outside edge which is a lot less than the standard exhaust.

Thanks for going to all that trouble, you pic's and detailed info will make the job ten times easier..... when our covid restrictions lift, I don't have the pipe bender for the tube so will have to get an exhaust place to use the mandrill and benders for me.

What was your favorite packing the wool type or the blanket. I am leaning toward packing the wool version.

Hi Grahame, you are most welcome. I haven't had to repack mine yet but I did buy a 1m square sheet of blanket type packing that I could cut to size when needed purely as it was the most economic way to do it.
I did wonder how tricky it would be to bend the existing pipe as the can will probably get in the way, would it perhaps be easier to cut the existing pipe just short of the can and then bend a fresh piece of tube to connect with the down pipe, accepting the extra join?

Bought some mat and a bag of wool type will advise. Yes maybe simpler to cut off existing pipe and have it replaced with new section. Covid lock down creates time but have to wait for services of exhaust shop
