So stupid me started a restoration on my bike thinking to fix the electrical problem I had about 3 years ago :O. So I had a problem after another putting the bike back together so I finally put the thing together about 2 years ago and it was super rough so I thought of ordering a carb rebuild kit .and I rebuilt the carb and it was missing a spring so it was back to storage. Fast forward last week and I finally got it running and it's still running super loud. I tried skipping the carb but it's still not right so Im thinking it's something to do with the engine valves which is causing the rough running.
So my question is can I clean the valves without opening the engine? Main reason is I don't want to wait another 3 months waiting for a single gasket. We don't have support for these bikes locally cause Yamaha is mainly importing Indian bikes now
So my idea is to remove the exhaust and carb to spray some carb cleaner. Then chuck some engine flush and run is for 15mins, drain oil, do a 2nd flush with some ATF and run the engine on mobil 1 synthetic oil.
Worth trying all the thing's on your list, have you also checked the carb inlet stub, these are know to cause rough running if they have cracked or became de laminated from the aluminium underneath.
