Voltage drop

Hi all, hope you all had a good Christmas.

When my bike is idling my bikes at a nice 13.5 volts. (Fully charged battery on the bike), when I ride it the voltage drops to 6-9v but then goes back up to 13.5 volts when on a lower but steady throttle.

I'll pull the generator off and try to check it out, has anyone had a similar problem?

Bad connection, faulty stator or rec/reg?

I guess you can check the rec/reg by swapping with your gf's Raid but, as HB suggests, go through your connections first.

Are you running a voltmeter or battery monitor on your TTR Dan? See https://ttr250.activeboard.com/t57639742/sparkbright-monsoon-waterproof-battery-voltage-monitor/ for monitor info.

Cheers guys!

I am running a voltmeter from a charging point. I used to have a light like you have shown but could do with re wiring that in.

I had the problem a week ago that the bike would not register above 11.8v when running. I took the connector off the reg rec and found the red wire had started corroding. I removed the connector from the block, cleaned it up and now get 13.5 at idle... I would have hoped that's the reg rec okay then.

Thanks again guys, once solved I'll let you know

Sorry John - I bought the Monsoon 10 which just fitted in my analogues speedo binnacle.

The Monsoon 10's LED requires a 14mm hole and the 8 requires a 12mm hole.
