New decals came in the mail today & look pretty good.

Tank is off & breathing, will clean & fit decals later in the week

Instructions from Elite design :

Hey Terry,

Thanks for the email, the best way to prep the tank is to unbolt the tank and drain the fuel out, let it sit for 24hrs. Then clean the area where the stickers are going with a solvent cleaner, we recommend Isopropyl Alcohol then apply your sticker to the tank.

Cheers, Rod Murphy

Nice looking decals Terry!

PS I have no idea why the forum software decided that your first attempt at posting this was spam but have deleted it as this post got through. Weird no

It happens occasionally when the Activeboard software take exception to web links in a message.

How quickly it gets sorted depends on me signing in and spotting there are messages "pending approval".

This means for you guys on t'other side of the world to me in the UK suffering a 12 hour lag so just be aware.

Sorry about that  disbelief

Brian

Picked up some solvent today & cleaned the tank.

Left the decals in the sun for 5 minutes to soften up the glue.

Let me say for a start I have trouble with clingrap, because the tank was so clean & the decals warm & sticky it was close to turning to crap, as you try to pull back the decal to relocate it gets all out of shape but in saying that pull it in another direction it comes back.

I was temped to use a touch of soapy water to allow slip but want to get max sticky glue effect

There were two options with the decals, standard MX style or with slits to let the fuel vapor get away, I went with the slits..

Anyhow all on & it looks bloody good, bike is out of rego. so might let it sit for a few weeks before rego & fuel...the WRR & Triumph run out next week

Couple of photos, sorry about the mess but with four bikes, trailer & two cars it gets hard & or messy

They look very good Terry!

Don't think I could put 'em on without the help of soapy water to locate them....

Was good luck on my part, the decals were $75au delivered which I thought was ok & are a good copy of the OEM decals

Great find Terry!biggrin   These are the best looking from what is currently out there.

I just ordered an MX thick perforated and a thin perforated set.  Very reasonably priced too.

Is yours the MX or thin perforated decal?

The thin perforated style, did you order from the same place ?

The Ballards decals I tried were too thick & or I didn't take the steps as I did with this set, let the tank breath for 24hrs & clean the tank with isopropyl alcohol

Several years ago I bought plastic tank decals from D&D Graphics, based on the recommendation on the Totally TTRs FAQ page and they still look as good as the day I fitted them.
Cheers

Good news, when I look at the new decals V the OEM yamaha decals the OEM are really yellow from the fuel but the bike was a 2011 build bought in 2013 so it does get through in the end.

Will be interested in your thoughts on thin V thick & which ones you fit in the end

After the bike has sat for close to a week no fuel etc I noticed a few bubbles in the decals so I put the bike in the sun on a really nice 25c day.

I let the sun warm up the tank & decals, then tried to work out the bubbles with a credit card followed with a soft rag. Much better but will have to wait & see what the result may be.

Yes a copy of the OEM $65au plus $10au delivery ( Melbourne to Adelaide )

Looks much better than a bare tank, well to me anyhow.
