rear wheel turns starter
Permalink

hello all.

bike was running ok. then stalled..

battery was dead.

would not bump start.

pushed bike back to the car.

tried booster cables to car battery. i just get relay click when i touch the electric start button.

tryied giving 12 volts directly to starter 12volt input. no sound or even sparks.

i put the bike in top gear and turned the rear tire by hand. motor turns over but i can hear the starter motor turning too.

does not matter if i turn the back wheel forward or reverse. i hear the starter motor turning.

it should not the key is out of the bike and i even took the battery out.

i am thinking starter clutch seized??

I think you have sussed the issue. When the bike stalled, the engine kicked back and jammed the sprag clutch cry

You sound as if you know what you are doing but, if you need any help, try this guide - http://www.ttr250.com/Sprag_replacement/TTR_sprag_replacement.htm

hey Brian, i have pulled it apart and indeed the sprag was jammed. I am opened the motor all the way down to the bottom end the big end connecting rod bearing is shot. so i am gonna be in to a full top and bottom rebuild. are the parts still around to do the rebuild? top and bottom end ?
