Hello everyone. 

 

Finally I found a bike I wanted. It's arriving in few days. 

Things I will need to sort first is mirrors - the bike don't have any. As my budget is tight, Double Take is not an option, and perhaps not a necessity for now - mainly it will be thumping on paved roads. 

Anyone had good success with cheaper mirrors? I remember liking them on my old cg125, but wouldn't know if position is good for ttr. 

 

Share some of your experiences. 

 

Secondly, there aren't many options for a windshield for Raid version. In a few months I will need to fit one as going to have a trip and I'm used to windshields. Is fabricating or universal clamp-to-bars are my only options?

Hi all,

I would like to share with you guys the windshield creation for my TTR 250 Raid '96

As on the market there is nothing near a practical and sturdy windscreen for the bike, I built one myself.. smile

Last weekend I hid behind it while driving through overgrown field roads with reeds crossing from both sides and was pleased at how well it went through the rugged environment. Also, I feel safer riding as the shield is tall, as I (reaches my nose height XD) and thus is the primary frontier from any unexpected airborne debris .. 

Any comments are welcome

Dear pjkr199,

I have broke many pairs of these mirrors and keep buying them for my Raid as I find them easy to fold in for offroad, back out for onroad use and easy to fine tune.

With all due respect I strongly disapprove of the product you promote from experience. For starters it is extremely short hence fails to do it's job that is shield, it's built quality is too flimbsy and in fact the one I had cracked solely with wind force and to top it off it is totally opaque.

I’ve got a screen on my 1999 Blue TTR250 that I bought from Screens for Bikes, in Melbourne, Australia.

Probably quite expensive to get sent to the UK but if you ordered a few at a time ...... If Steve gets enough enquiry about them.

Mine is the 5mm thick version, in a light “Smokey” tint. It’s really well made. I found that I had to “cable tie” the mounting points of the Headlight Surround to their Brackets as the extra weight and wind buffeting was abit too much for the standard setup. Easy to do and that has fixed that problem.

Screens for Bikes told me that the wind on you at 100kph, with the Screen, is like the wind at 80kph without it.

Where did you get the longer windshield? a link would be useful. I would be interested in getting one in to have a look.

I have the smoked one from ali express ( same as our friend from Portugal) and find it is good and the plastic quality is fine, but then I have never had a windshield on my bike before, just works for me though
