3 indicator on all the time
Permalink

Just prepared the bike for Mot over the last few days............all going well

Until this morning

Get all togged up and on the bike, starts ok but 3 of the indicators are flashing and won't stop

Checked switch..seems ok

Tank off relay is clicking

Gutted is not a very descriptive word to use as to how I'm feeling at the moment

Any help would be appreciated

Is yours an older bike with a hazard switch just to the left of the switch unit (as arrowed in blue in photo below)?

That seems the most likely that you have accidentally switched the hazards on.

If it's a pre 1981 bike (which I doubt) then indicators are not required - tape them over and tell the MoT man that you use arm signals.

If it's more modern then check everything thoroughly as others are saying. hmm

Good luck.

TTRfan. That's the one........that part you have highlighted, part of it has broken off so I couldn't see that there was indeed a switch. Now I need to get hold of one, or better still make one

Thanks all for your input

I'm now un-gutted

Great stuff - a nice easy fix wink

I wouldn't worry about fixing it - when would you ever need hazards on a dirtbike?

When you're riding behind me, I'm likely to fall off anytime! 😉

It's documented in a slightly garbled way near the end of this thread:

https://ttr250.activeboard.com/t53061334/fitting-an-onoff-switch-for-lighting-components/

I already had a lights switch spliced into the loom with the wires joined in down below the tank to shut off the tail light as well as headlight so this was wired into the hazard switch. I was slightly worried that the headlight and tail might be too much current  for the switch, then I thought sod it, I'll try it anyway - the TDM headlight runs through ok (might only be 35W though) and I run an led Cyclops H4 which draws very little.

Great, i found it and will have a read through it. I just remembered that i have a virago 535 that i bought for €50 that has light switch gear on it so i might try that on it.

Main thing to remember is if you want the tail light included in the switch, you need to run a twin core cable up from the break in the loom under the tank up to the switch.
A multimeter with continuity tester is handy for finding out what wire does what in the switch. Be interesting to know how much of Yamaha's wiring code is common to several models. Note the TDR and TTR are from a similar era.
Good luck!

I will have to do a bit of thinking on it, might have plenty of time if this goes on much longer!
