Hi John

Having a history of heart disease, I am "self isolating" and only going out for a bit of exercise walking the dog. Still having to go to the supermarket and pharmacy though but carry hand sanitiser in the car and are being as sensible about it as we can.

English schools are closing indefinitely from Friday to match what's already happened in Wales and Scotland. So that'll affect a lot of owners including Steve at Totally TTRs unless they can arrange child care.

The NHS are still trying to gear up for a large rise in the number of cases with complications and I am guessing that the government will soon introduce more draconian measures to keep people off the roads and out of towns and start to enforce their recommendations about social distancing etc which so many of the population are ignoring. This is only playing catch up to Spain, Italy, France etc so shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

I got plenty of books, etc plus a few years worth of projects in the workshop to keep me occupied but all our club meetings etc have been cancelled and its going to be hard not dropping in on mates or having them visit. Gonna get very lonely from that point of view.

Makes Brexit debates etc pale into insignificance.

How is it with you and our friends around the world?

I am hoping other owners stuck at home might be able to get out and do some TTR projects and share their progress on the forum to keep our spirits up biggrin

Hi Brian, good to hear that you are doing ok. Hard to know what Boris's game is.

We are the same here, all a little too late. So far i am avoiding it but for how long? I am still working but keeping it very simple, being a carpenter i can avoid a lot of situations as i am self employed and work out of home a good bit. But i fear that the storm is coming here too and we will face a lot stiffer rules i fancy. Speaking to my GP today because at this stage anything remotely like the flu or symptoms of that nature would have you wondering what you have and he said to me that although he hasn't heard of any cases in our area, he said to give it a week and it will be everywhere, comforting thoughts. Economic fallout is massive, everyone in my house bar me overnight became unemployed and no end in sight. Serious times ahead and no bob to repair bikes!!!

The economics of the situation don't bear thinking about! My son is a sound engineer that provides video and sound equipment for events and venues. He went into work on Monday and by mid-morning everything had been cancelled so is just tidying up the warehouse etc so that everything is ready when we get back to normal - if that ever happens and this bloody virus doesn't start mutating!

I am retired so am lucky to have a steady pension but my nephews and nieces are going to struggle - especially if one of each couple have to stay at home to look after the kids out of school.

The government will not want to take too big a financial hit and, if I was a betting man, I would lay good odds on the army/police "enforcers" being on our streets by the weekend cry

Yes, perilous times lie ahead for all of us. Our rozzers over here have very strangely ramped up speeding checks in our surrounding area, all the pubs are closed . Talk about taking advantage of a worrying situation for everyone who might inadvertently stray over the speed limit because they may have more on their mind than watching for sneaky speed traps, or else they are all self isolating in the patrol cars. Schools wont be back for months, colleges wont be back. The banks here have been instructed to give a 3 month break on mortgages and personal loans and hopefully the utilities will follow suit. Hard to see where it will all end.

funny in Aus the govt is telling us to keep the kids in school.thats their expert medical advice. My wife and boys work for Qantas so hard times ahead. Enforces leave etc. Still gonna trail ride itssafer in the bush.

Yes, it is hard to know which is the best option, stay in school or stay at home. I agree head into the wilds on the bike is the safest bet! Lets hope everyone stays safe.

I know people that have already lost theirs jobs and others that have had there work cut to next to nothing, this is going to be one hell of a financial mess

Speaking to an uncle of mine that is living in London and some of his children and partners have got it. Very sick at the minute. He was telling me that it is bad in London and he is in the over 70 bracket and has to do the shopping and to quote himself " I drop the shopping outside the front door and run the **** away" Excuse the language!!

We all have to deal with similar circumstances. My best wishes go out to all fellow TTR members everywhere.

Many people losing their jobs here, too. Fortunately, I have been assigned to work from home and can avoid contact with others. But I'm afraid this will drag on an on. I just wish we didn't have this F*@%**@ Idoit as president making life changing decisions.

Funny that you should mention that. Speaking to people i know in the USA say the same thing about the Donald in that he botched the initial response and allowed it to get out of control.

Just came back from the local supermarket. While there wasn't a panic, most people seemed annoyed and avoided eye contact. Still some bare spots in the fresh meat, dairy and paper goods sections, but they are doing a good job restocking from last weeks panic buying.

Going to take the ole TTR out later today in the woods. Great mental therapy! biggrin biggrin

Gotta be extra careful not to get hurt!! disbelief Hospitals are beginning to exceed capacity. Makeshift facilities are being built all over.

NZ has closed it's boarders....every one coming back home has to self isolate for 14 days..
I was ment to fly out to Khon Kaen , Thailand on Sunday 29th....

I’m about to take the ttr our for a ride and enjoy some solo time in the forest

Well all this crap about schools closed not for the people working in them its not we are open as normal Monday and have been told to expect 400 kids and right through Easter we have been told to open. We are down on staff by about half who may or may not have it the ones that don't are going to look like Pratt's after there 14 days. as they will be classed as clear and will be the ones in with the kids when the rest get to go home and work from there Don't jump the Gun people it comes back to bit you on the ass

I think we're only just at the start of spread of infection. The current strategy is not going to stop everyone eventually getting infected, it is just going to delay the rate of infection. The iPlayer has a very good documentary called "Contagion" modelling how a new flu virus would spread through the UK. It was made in 2017 but everything it talks about is happening now with COVID-19. Its definitely worth a watch.

I'm classed as a key-worker so I'll be going to work on Monday as normal. I'll be covering for people who are already off self-isolating, or who have been sent home already. I'll keep working until I get sick and then I'll be replaced by one of the home workers. If I recover I'll be back on the sub's bench ready to go back to work when the next person I can cover for gets infected. The whole idea is to keep the place running for as long as possible until a vaccine is produced, or enough people have developed an immunity to limit the further spread.

Its going to be a long ride back to normality.

We have called off the trip to the Victorian High country because they are closing the borders, otherwise it is 14 days in isolation.

Hell of a thing and no end in sight. Too bloody cold here to go biking and half afraid to do it in case i get a cold or something besides the virus and have to stop working. Have to tread very carefully for the moment and try and keep a bob or 3 turning over being self employed.

All pubs ,clubs, restaurants , leisure centres , hairdressers, barbers and the like are closed as are schools , colleges , no sport of any kind. Our biggest problem here is that people wont stay apart and are congregating on beaches and and walking in massive groups. they will keep at it until they get us locked down completely and then nothing will move at all.

MOT due on mine soon and I need to replace the usual culprit - the bottom shock bearing. I tried doing it once with the linkage still on the bike. Don't try that disbelief

I didn't get outside quick enough and got caught to hang out the washing this morning evileye

Just heard that it is very likely that non-essential businesses will be shut down in the UK. I wonder if that includes online/mail order concerns?

I would imagine that business that don't require people going in and out wont be shut down but i could be wrong. What constitutes a non essential business?

The banks over here (Ireland) are supposed to apply a 3 month break for mortgages and personal loans but i am hearing now that they are not playing ball and refusing people when they apply.

Manners would want to be put on them and the insurance industry at this time because they are going to make life hell for people that have lost work through no fault of their own.

What constitutes a non essential business?

My state has just outlined what constitutes essential business. It looks like over here each state will make their own determination but I imagine they'll be pretty similar.

Obviously this doesn't mean jack squat to other countries but it may give you an idea of what the powers that be have in mind.

The executive order outlines “essential services” to include:

Health care and public health operations, including hospitals, public health entities, distributors of personal protective equipment and biotechnology companies;
Human services operations, including those that provide services for the elderly, those with developmental disabilities, foster and adoption children and the homeless;

My occupation falls within one of those so I'll be grinding away throughout this ordeal.

It's very strange driving to/from work with almost no traffic and passing through normally bustling office parks that are totally empty.

Strange at school Monday we had been told 200-300 kids coming we had just over 60 in I have been redeployed to the IT department to keep the network running and kids online with the school system Kids and mums and dads very chatty by the video links I'm doing what I can but I'm no IT Wizz and IT only had two in the rest of the Staff have been great and we will get this home schooling sorted but its going to take a week or two

Had to use my W800 to get my prescription from the pharmacy yesterday - did my mental health a lot of good - it was great to get out biggrin

I wonder if our lock down will get tougher to mirror France, for instance, where anyone going out needs to carry a form to justify the journey.

Yea getting harder, two rides called off this morning, I was going to put rego on the TTR & take it for a spin but thought I had better not. The WRR was ready for the trip to the VHC leaving today, two new tyres, new air cleaner, oil & filter, gearing change etc. That got called off as well as we have to cross into Victoria.

Steve I have a LS2 Adv helmet as well, I like it, fitted pinlock visor & that works a treat.

All 4 bikes have been serviced, polished, started...running out of things to do, evencut down a tree yesterday & eyeing off another LOL
Guess I could wash the wifes Golf & or my work RAV4 but washing cars pisses me off.

Feel sorry for all the out of work & companies being forced to close!!! will be a lot in a bad position over the next weeks /months

Morning Terry!

Washed the car a couple of days ago! SORNed the camper van (taken it off the road officially in UK- refund of road tax etc) but still nice to sit in it when the sun is out.

Loads to do but definitely lacking motivation.

Trying to do at least an hour's walk a day to maintain some kind of fitness. Too easy just to blob and go on social meeja or sit watching the news disbelief

Hopefully our lock down will start to show results soon. The public seem to have taken it seriously.

I bought an LS2 Metro helmet a few months back and, in expectation of going on a holiday with the bikes to France, my brother and I both bought the Linkin Ride Pal 3 intercoms. Got mine fitted and it pairs with the phone and plays from Deezer just fine. Haven't tried anything else yet and, of course, the French holiday is off and I am not going to be able to see my brother to test the intercom facility now.

Yep MOT due on my TTr 11th next month and I insured the bikes 2 weeks back at cost of £408 and cant ride them anywhere but on the plus side been doing 20 - 30 miles a day on the Ebike for my exercise and the roads are so quite the suns been out had the camera with me so I can stop and rest take the odd photo and chill a bit bad knee have to give it 5 min every now and then. Seen the cop's hassling motorists and people out in the town and just peddled on past with a wave. This has to be the best time in 100 years to be out on a bicycle get yourself out there for the exercise

There is talk of doing the same here in Ireland but they must consult about it . Why they cant just bloody do a simple thing like that the same as you have done in the UK doesn't inspire confidence in the plan for the virus containment . They have cancelled 2 NCT car tests (MOT equivalent ) i have scheduled with no talk of extending , no one knows what is happening or what is going on. This is going to go on for months..
