Hi all, I'm having a bit of a nightmare with removing my flywheel at the moment. I'm trying to replace the sprag clutch but can't get the flywheel off. I've followed Brian's guide here http://www.ttr250.com/Sprag_replacement/TTR_sprag_replacement.htm however the flywheel won't budge. I've tried the rear axle trick and a flywheel puller to no avail. Has anyone else had the same problem and how did you overcome it? Any help would be really appreciated please.
I have had one stuck on so hard I stripped the thread on the extractor
The drill is to tighten up the extractor as hard as you dare and then clout the end of it with a hammer and the shock usually frees it off.
Some heat on the flywheel boss whilst its under tension might help as Les suggests but use a hot air gun if you can as probably best not to have naked flame in around that area.
Are you able to get your hands on a windy (rattle) gun? Mine always does the business without needing the hammer treatment.
Wow thank you Les and Brian between some heat and my rattle gun it popped right off! Your help and advice is really appreciated, I'll definitely ask for help earlier rather than later next time.
