I am under pressure to clear some room on my shelves so have reluctantly agreed to sell my collection of Trail Bike & Enduro Magazine (TBM) / Dirt Junkies mags.
The May and October 2009 mags feature the WR250R. In fact the October mag asks if the WR250R is the best trailie ever
I have spent much of the day on listing these mags but probably more time re-reading them than anything else
I could be wrong but there just seemed to be a much wider variety of trail bikes around back in the day.
I have just listed the mags for 2002 and included in these mags were buyers guides for a Honda XR250R, XT225 Serow, KTM200, WR400F, RMX250 and Pampera. Remember those?
Also, good reminders of the old faithfuls such as the KDX220, XT500, DR-Z400S and E, CCM 644DSR, 1150GS, Yam WR250Z (the ultimate enduro weapon back in the day - now a very rare bike), and the venerable CRM250AR.
The January 1999 TBM magazine includes a couple of pages on a comparison of the Honda XR250R and a "white" TTR250. They didn't get much time on the bikes and wouldn't choose between them but concluded that the TTR had better suspension and the XR a "gruntier" engine.
Six 1999 issues including this one are included here.
I was talking to TTR Steve earlier today and, being a relative newcomer to trail riding, he hadn't heard of the TBM magazine and only knew of its digital successor "Rust".
TBM was always a great read and each issue was awaited eagerly as there was nothing much else happening online and no regular publication that was interested in trail riding.
