Getting all the parts ready, flipping lower shock bearing was well rusted in, had to use Bri's top tip for getting the circlip out.

Not sure why this post is a bit of a mess, tried to do it on my phone and then tidy it on the Pc, but not much luckbleh

Anyway, got the loom on the bike and then started to fit some parts, including the 350

Managed to use up alot of parts that I had accumulated no

What is really nice is the speedo covers that I sell, they fit really nice and you can still see the sprocket, which is a massive help smilesmile

Holding my hands up to a bit of a mistake, when I got the engine in late last night, I overlooked the aesthetics of it and to be honest I was a bit disappointed when I looked at it this morning. Nothing else to do but take it back out and give the heart of the bike a nice fresh coat of paint, looks so much better and I should of done it at the start.

Oh well

piccy of the 1st coat

What brand/colour do you use for the engine Steve? Is it a heat resistant? Looks similar to original Bluey shade.

Hi Simon

Just Holts auto spray, metallic grey. No special heat resistant stuff and never had a  problem with this type of paint.

 HGREYM08 on the label

Halfords Rover Gunmetal Grey metallic is a good match. If you can, finish off with a high temperature clear coat.

Neat job Steve.
I was getting confused what with OE seat, Raid headlight, kickstart etc. Couldn't remember what it looked like to start with!
Going to look sweet

Definitely a one off! Bit of a mish mash of all the best bits

Raid Headlight

OE base bike

Kicker

smile

This bike was a basket case I bought from ebay, the engine was proper screwed, but the frame was rock solid and the best I could find for the resto, other parts have been accumulated along the way. I have got all new white panels for it, apart from the rear mudguard, but again I have found a super solid one, that just needs a bit of TLC to make it look like new smile New side panels were squirrelled away a couple of years ago and just ordered a new genuine white front mudguard.

Just found I can still get the proper raid headlight indicator brackets, so may change what I have done to fit them.

Going for a black and white look, think the Acerbis tank is going to look nice on it and will see if I can get some stickers for it, like the idea of the speed block like on my WRF, guy in Cornwall makes them, so may go and visit himsmile

Glad you are all liking my build.

That looks choice. Needs to be dirty. A matter of time.

What type of decals /stickers stay on an Acerbis tank?

Don't worry it will get dirty at some stage!

Not sure about the graphics yet, as the tank has a rough texture to it and not sure if any will work yet? the Acerbis sticker has been put on a smooth bit of tank made by the manufacturer, that's why I'm not sure it will work yet. Need to get someone to have a look.

The bike passed it's MOT just fine, took her for a road ride to Bude and back taking in some lovely Devon and Cornish countrysidesmilesmile I must admit I have struggled a bit in the past doing road work with my friends on bigger bikes, but not this time! The 350 engine transforms our little bikes into something spectacular smilesmile I am eternally grateful to Simon who got this project to off the ground and into the shop, thanks matey!

Our rego takes  a leap above 250cc, I know guys with 250 KLX's with the 300cc barrel like back in the XL250S days guys used a 305 kit, no one ever told the rego dept.

I had a XR400RC before the TTR & what a great engine, wonder if it gets close ?

Cheers Terry
