Help! Is a Dunlop D605 rear tyre directional?

I have checked and re-checked but cannot find a direction arrow on the sidewall of the tyre I am about to fit.

Makes me think maybe the D605s are reversible. Anyone know for sure please?

Can't find anything on Google cry

It would be nice to get this job done now as the tyre and workshop are warm biggrin

According to this forum :- http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=132371.0

"No, the K70 tread is not directional.
It is also NOT a front tire. If used as a front, it will make a bike feel like it wants to stand back up when it is pulled down into a corner."

Oops - I thought I had the answer and it's all Yankee stuff.

Sorry Brian, I see that the D605s look a tad knobbly and are meant for dual sport bikes so the above answer is not suitable for your question.

However, looking at a D605 I would say they look non directional front or rear.

Hi Martyn!

I gave up searching for a directional arrow and, looking at the tread pattern, I agree that the tyre is almost certainly bi-directional.

Anyways up, it's fitted now and has certainly improved the TTR's looks compared to the Distanza previously fitted. Distanzas are great tyres but haven't got "presence" if you know what I mean.

I used them for a while on the TTR, ok on dirt roads & gravel roads, suck big time in sand, ok in rocks if running 18-20 PSI otherwise plenty of flats. D606's are better BTW D605 are not directional.

Photo below with D606's, looks tough

I was running MT21s on my WRR & they were great, heaps of front grip so I swapped the D606s for MT21s on the TTR, slight improvement but not up to the grip of the WRR, tend to get a little understeer on the TTR with the D606 but it might be the 120/90 D606 on the rear, too much rear tyre causing the front to push.

The D606 does not come in a 120/80, the smaller tyre suits a 250 better & allows them to turn, only issue with a 120/80 over the 120/90 is the increased chance of a pinch flat, plus the MT21 is softer than the D606.

Had a few flats with the D605s, no flats with the D606 & quite a few with the MT21s, my thoughts & findings

Cheers Terry

I run full soft or medium Bridgestone MX tyres and avoid bitumen like the plague.....used to run Dunlops they were a bit  cheaper but find the more expensive Bridgestones hang on a bit longer..

Good ol tyre chat.

I ran the 605 as my "adv" tyres and kinda liked them, they look sexy when new :) Grip the road really well but found they just move around too muuch on the gravel and wear super fast for what they are. (Soft and grippy on the blacktop though)

I really like the MT21 as an adventure tyre now, great on the road, softish and grippy and pretty good offroad, next best thing to a full knobby but more traction on the blacktop I think.

However, compared to a proper knobby tyre they are pretty slippery offroad. It's all relative really.

I use the Pirelli XC mid hard offroading and they are fine on the road, but definitely more slippery on road than the MT21, but offroad it is a huge difference. Especially with the rear. I run them at 5psi tubliss so that obviously helps a lot too :)

Cheers Leigh.

I get the same kms from a MT21 as I did from the D605
