Was 45c at work today, showing 47c most of the way home from work & hit 48c a few times as well. Didn't want to waste any time so cracked a beer & changed the tyres on my pushbike

We we have had huge fires 15-20kms from here right through where I ride the road bike & dirt bike...so far 72 houses lost, 404 "outbuildings" on properties and 227 vehicles have been destroyed. One death & several serious injuries.
Saw that on the news not good still got fires here but on the tail end now, still got daily wster bombing going after five months. Got back out riding with a mate sat morning. My wife has organised a Christmas morning ride with my son he's driving home tonight as he lives a couple of hundred ks away
Hope the fires calm down your way and maybe some rain sometime soon .
Look after your family ,mates and community
All my staff and myself donated their Christmas party money to buy fencing products for people who need a hand didn't seem right having a party amongst what's going on
This may be off ttr topic at times but it's great to hear from other riders and the effect it's having on us . Thanks everyone for reading and appreciate the support from all over the place . This is far from a normal summer so far . I must admit is taking its toll on us all.
Again thanks for the chat and support and all the best to everyone for the festive period and bring on 2020.
I can't really add to what I've said before. Feel desperately sorry for those who have lost so much, and ever hopeful that things will calm down soon. My fingers are still crossed for you, but it makes it difficult to type
Best wishes and good luck to all,
Simon.
Victoria has huge fires in the East Gippsland area with 17 people missing
Southern NSW has the worst fires in history
Here is SA we have a high of 42c tomorrow which could turn nasty
Keeping an eye on the weather for next week in Victoria, got a week off work & heading over to the GREAT OCEAN RD. Taking the Triumph Scrambler & the Mrs
Definitely getting worse it started here in the manning now we are in the middle but it's the south that's really copping it at the moment. We are still ready to leave if needed fingers crossed the next few days are better .we lost 80 houses in the first few days but it's past 1400 for the state now .
I'm working today I'm port maquarie the fires have been burning since 27th July still flaring up most days
We are OK here really hope the south east gets through OK now

Good luck, we had a new fire start late yesterday in an area I ride through so at this point in time I can't really get out on the dirt bike just yet
Thanks Brian. The places that burnt a few months ago are coming back well. Some coastal places it's hard to tell it's been burnt. It's trying to rain now still nothing but close to coming down as well as a bit cooler .
Starting to settle down. The fire yesterday six bombers had it out in about an hour .they do a great job

RE last comment Les, I might be wrong but with the fires in the three states SA VIC & NSW knowing the terain in VIC high country & the fires near us water bombers should have been used at the very start to nip them in the bud early. Yes they cost a lot but cheaper in the long run, I guess the powers to be will review the outcome after its all done & dusted.
Shocking loss of wildlife, pets & homes, we as a nation need to rethink how we deal with the fires & possible building codes & fuel on ground, very sad !!!
It rained a bit and we have got back to a bit of riding in the unburnt forests. Still too much stuff falling in the burnt areas. Still smokey only two water bombers on standby now down from 9 going all day everyday.
I've heard it rained up river last night might see the river start running again in a few days. That would be a step towards lowering water restrictions at the moment all outdide wster use is banned so we don't run out of water
Still pretty crappy down south. But we are starting to get back to normal here .
Well, 40c Wed, 45c Thursday, 38c & rain yesterday & now 25c with 30mm of rain, sticky as & misty. This weather is crazy but at least it might wet the bushfire areas.
Put rego on the WRR this morning, bit of a check over before a ride either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
Will put rego on the TTR in a few weeks & give it a spin on the Adventure tyres.!!!! could be interesting but you never know till you try
The bit of rain a couple of weeks ago here has stopped all but a few fires so getting back out here as well . Back to low 40s riding later today just a drive to Newcastle and back first (320km trip)
It's good to see a bit of green again. Did a bit of work on the ttr yesterday softening the suspension so it's more suited to trail riding and my older body body.
