I've put a new battery on my ttr, but it keeps going flat and now won't take a charge. Any ideas what could be problem,  rectifier? Thanks in advance

Tom could be right - duff battery. If you only just bought it then you should be able to exchange it.

I had a "leaky" reg/rec on my XR400 which flattened the battery but did not show up with the usual reg/rec tests. (It was an electric start conversion, before anyone says "there's no battery on the xr4") It did have a capacitor attached as well, which may have been the problem - not present on the ttr.

If you have a usb power point on the bike they can sometimes be a problem.

As Tom and Brian have pointed out faulty batteries do happen. Were you having problems before with the old battery?

Yep was having probs before hence battery change, I'm not a sparks, so be gentle please. Battery now will not charge above 10v, could be battery, but don't want to put new battery on for it to happen again. Poss voltage regulator? Rectifier? Condenser?.......I'm in your hands guys

you really need to check your charge rate while running it may be overcharging regulator / rectifier problem probably

How new is your new battery? Was it full charged when you got it? If it wont charge past 10v is sounds like a dead cell. If its still under warranty return it. Do you have any non standard accessories that could be draining the battery?

Batteries a week old, nothing else attached to it, does the ttr battery need to be a sealed unit as I've just noticed a slight weep from the top ? being that it sits upright?

Looking at the ads for that battery makes me think it's not a sealed battery so shouldn't be used on its side.

Check the information that came with the battery as it should say if it can only be used top upwards.

Best to get the sealed gel batteries as listed in the FAQ.
