And he came bearing gifts of confectionery which our Australian cousins will surely recognise
Great to meet Steve and his lovely wife Wendy today. They are on holiday in the UK from the Macedon Ranges in Oz.
Turns out he is a bit of a suspension guru and is the only TTR250 owner I know to have fitted a Wilbers shock - which he rates very highly.
Apparently our petrol prices are double those in Oz which helps explain why everyone seems to run V8s down under.
Very interesting chap and a lovely couple. Enjoy the rest of your holiday in the UK cobber if you are reading this
Brian (and Trish)
PS to Steve - It seems that I am a bit out of date regarding your night's accommodation - to quote Wikipedia "The inn overlooks the medieval 16th-century Bickleigh Bridge which was said since the 1960s to have been the inspiration for the song Bridge Over Troubled Water.[7]Paul Simon stayed at The Fisherman's Cot in the 1960s whilst performing nearby in Exeter. During his stay at the inn in Room Six, the river had flooded its banks and when he later wrote the famous song it was widely believed to have been the inspiration for the song with the bridge. The rumour was quashed in 2003 when Art Garfunkel claimed that Paul Simon had been inspired to write the song from a hymn book." Sorry
sad that I wasn't around to meet them, but laying on a sun lounger drinking sangria! I have promised to take Steve (and Wendy if she rides) trail riding around Dartmoor another time
The alleged bridge over troubled waters!!.
Thanks Brian (and Trish) for the kind words and hospitality.
Will have to get back and organise some of those green lanes. And finally catch up with you Steve. Enjoy the sun and Sangrias I like mojitos ;)
Hi Steve and Brian,
Mr. Kaos started a Down Under Trend as when we saw what he had done here, we delivered Jaffa Cakes to Steve but didn’t leave instructions that they were to be shared with Brian and Trish, ops.
We presumed they were consumed by Steve, Lisa and the kids.
The term J.A.F.A has a derogatory meaning amongst fellow Kiwis.
It is aimed at those who live in the Auckland area (which is one third of the New Zealand population)
Just Another F...ing Aucklander.
Hopefully the lunch at the Duke of York was a good replacement.
Has Charlie Watts turned up looking for us yet ?
