I wonder if the temp sender for the speedo is the same as their dedicated temp gauge, ie a copper loop that mounts to the spark plug? In which case, that just reads temp of whatever the copper loop is touching (including just air) so if you can mount that to say an oil banjo or the sump plug that would read approx oil temp with a bit of a time lag.
Or does the sender mount to a water jacket/rad?
I might do some googling later...!
Does the Rekluse have disadvantages on a "dual sport"?
All the different TT temp sensors appear to plug in the same so I reckon you could find something suitable: 12mm spark plug type would fit on an oil cooler banjo, or the sump plug (think it's 12mm isn't it?) or you could get really flash and drill/tap a hole in the crankcase somewhere and fit one of the water sensors (there's an M6x1mm thread version) direct into the sump oil. Feeling brave? If there's enough clearance between bash plate and sump plug you could mount it into the drilled and tapped sump plug so long as there's also enough internal clearance.
Thanks for the Rekluse comments - I've pondered fitting one for a while - on the 350 it would be unstoppable probably, but my trail riding style doesn't really warrant the cost and setup fiddles.

Trail tech temp sensors definitely just register the temp at the sensor. So yes, you could put them to any purpose. You could use a radiator fin sensor in an oil cooler, for example.
I thought mine wasn't working on a race bike, as it kept showing ambient. Yeah, it had dumped all the water before it got hot. **** buggar bum bitch piss **** fart!
