Please help - unidentified seal leaking.

What is this seal?  Is it a seal?

It's not shown on the Yamaha Parts Finder microfiche that I access on line.  I forgot - 2002 TTR in Oz.

The bolt behind drains the oil from the left side exhaust cam well.

Talcum powder, if you are wondering. To identify the source of the leak.

Hi Ray

It's almost certainly the decompressor plug that's leaking - see here and here for replacement options.

Fitting guide here

A nice easy fix biggrin

Yep, that is definitely it. Happy to have not levered it out. I can tolerate the leak for a week or two, now that I understand it.

So, thank you for the confirmations. I just ordered the custom replacement part, plus the axle spanner and clutch tool. Who doesn't like custom parts and tools?

The online shop is easy to use too. Congratulations on that.

Done.  Easy, peasy.

Except for the remnants of the plastic of the oem seal that stayed behind.  You can see the portion that broke off.  Essentially glued itself to the aluminium.

Should do the trick.

Maybe all the old oil and dirt will gradually burn / clean off now.  Bit of elbow grease required
