Try cutting out?

Hi guys, hope someone can help, my ttr keeps blowing the 15amp fuse on top of the battery box, which then kills the engine. Change the fuse, bike starts, will do 100m, and fuse blows. Will tick over great, but soon as a bit of load.....fuse blows. Any idea's please? Thanks in advance, Steve.

Hi Steve - hope the weather in France is better than here in the UK this afternoon!

You must have a short somewhere in the wiring. It can be hard to locate. You just have to be methodical. Easiest place to start is behind the headlight. Look for bare wires or burnt insulation. You will have to move the wiring around to find it as the short will be against the bike frame.

Next check under the seat and in particular around where the red wire goes from the batter to the ignition switch. If still no luck, off with the tank.

A good opportunity to clean up the wiring and connectors wink

Good luck!

Brian

Cheers Brian, lovely day here, sunny and 17*, even cut my grass this afternoon. Real shame as we were out this morning in the limousine hills, and it started playing up, but just far enough I could free wheel back to the car park. Will check all the wires as you've suggested, can't be much me thinks. Thanks and will keep you posted. Steve.

Think I might of found the culprit,  one of the wires to the headlight was hanging off and the spade bit is not sheathed, I could see a Mark on the yoke where it had been rubbing, maybe arking. Have checked all the other wires ,all seem fine but will check under seat as well. Touch wood ive found it.Thanks for the help guys.
