A led headlight arrived in the mail today it's much the same size as my TTR one  but will need brackets made to fit

Will let you know how it goes I like the plastic lens and straight h4 plug in  45watt led

I am sure there will be a number of owners watching your progress with interest Les - that's gonna save about a kilo!

Just a word of warning for owners of non-Australian TTRs. It is likely that you have a different headlight surround (Euro/UK) that takes a smaller unit. If anyone finds a similar road-legal LED unit that fits please let us know wink

Am very interested to see how this light performs! Especially at night, my stock unit casts such a narrow beam :(

A couple of hours a bit of welding and it's in using the original mounting spots measured the original and fitted it the same angle ect it's mid day so can't try it other than its a lot brighter than an incandescent one. And looks OK

EBay from China 4by6 15led  apparently a replacment for Honda xr  lights

Just tried it in the dark it's got a good low beam and huge high beam

Both heaps better than the original very happy with it

Made the brackets and screwed them to the heat sink  also threaded an m8 three in the top bracket  so it took the original bolt

I had a step back from Chinese knock offs that didn't last long. Does it got a good review and warranty?

I'm weary of Chinese stuff as well but for the price and I have had a good run with led lights it's worth a try for me  and the original goes back in easy

I wouldn't mined one for the XT660R.. since I now run a TTR head light..

on low beam dose it dip to the left ?...
or is it built for the US market.. dips to the right...

I got caught out once with a head light... ..

Ive found it dips down but straight ahead.  So not actually legal but really good (no left or right cutoff)

We don't have them checked here  . The way I've done it the original goes straight back in if I had too just a few minutes work

A proper night ride was planned but my head gasket stuff up has delayed it

Will report on it when I get it out in the open

Stop showing off more things to spend money on.

PLEASE!!!

I'm going broke.

Seriously though, the only question is of legal low beam. Is it a 'change it over for rego inspection' type modification?

All good in my neck of the woods as long as a bike has high/low beam and works - that's as far as they check .

Finally got out after dark

I can confirm the led light dips straight not left or right

Low beam is good and high beam is great

As a day running light excellent

Fits Australian blues with a couple of DIY brackets

How about light falling onto the shoulders, showing up the skips? The photographs only show light, depending on the exposure. A bit too little and it wont expose for the shoulders. A bit too much and we'll be thinking that the LEDs are making daylight, scorching the bitumen ahead & burning the retinas of oncoming drivers.

It was the best I could do with my phone camera had a go at deleting the pics bit no luck

Will just stick with its better than stock one and it's plastic.  Do don't have to worry about breaking it.

It's done 2000ks and happy with it

No dramas at all. just a point regarding exposures - yes, you can take photos at night that look like day.

I wasn't suggesting you delete the pics at all. Better posted than not.

Lastly, there is only one person that you need to keep happy. Ok, two.

I think your bike may have a smaller light than mine I measured mine and found the xr400 replacment was the same size but the European ones may be a bit smaller Brian might be able to help with the sizes

There's these on ebay at the moment:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2Pcs-Rectangular-Super-Bright-70W-LED-Headlights-Headlamps-for-Jeep-Cherokee/382936489283%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D56113%26meid%3Da9525bea39844d18b356ec89501e6b35%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D382936489283%26itm%3D382936489283&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A810de57d-6f57-11e9-a2a9-74dbd1801f77%7Cparentrq%3A88f2029416a0aa6695d29daeffef7b7c%7Ciid%3A1

I've sent a message regarding confirmation of dimensions, but £27 each isn't bad, provided they have a decent dip beam cut-off.
Baja Designs do a rectangular clear lens H4 fitment which fits European blueys and works well with a standard H4 bulb. I have a Cyclops led in mine which is good, but expensive and took a lot of tuning to get right.

Took me all afternoon too! I think I searched "rectangular headlight" but I've been flicking all over the web for ages, can't quite remember! Headlights are one of my obsessions. I even found an H4 bulb-fit rectangular lamp to fit in the tiny OE shroud, bought one,but they've gone from view now, and I want another!

My, how the long winter nights just fly by!

Well the Hong Kongers come as a pair, but if they work I'll buy one off you if you want to share the load! Will need some bracketry making 'cause they don't appear to have the side mounting lugs.

I did a little research. The jeep cherokee and wrangler headlights are all 6x4".So i'm pretty sure 5" is wrong. That means it wont fit.I found some universal led lights locally and will try them.I will post when i receive them.
