Hi all, I got my ttr oe last Friday. All was well. I discovered original air filter was not all there. About a 1/4 of it had fell apart and was mostly crumbled in the air box. New air filter fitted after cleaning crud out of airbox. On my way home from work Friday night bike slowed and spluttered, time to go to reserve. It was low on petrol.  Bike stopped. Reserve on and tried to start. No joy battery slowed so pushed to a nearby hill and tried to bumpstart fired and cutout twice now at the bottom of a valley with no phone signal. long story a bit shorter left bike in nearby farmers workshop and collected bike today and brought it home. Emptied tank some bits of dirt and weirdly what appeared to be human hair. Tap off and some hair round tap filters. Checked for spark nice fat and blue. Still not firing carb off and found lots of knackered air filter foam particles so cleaned carb out reassembled and after charging battery doesn't try for long and still not starting. I've also not wound the throttle spring enough so I've got to take carb off again tomorrow. The bike Has run sweet as for a week would a dying battery cause bike to cut out? Scott

Sounds like you may have a blocked strainer above the float needle valve.

Open the carby drain and turn the fuel tap on and check for a good stream of fuel.

If so next will be the carby pilot jet there's a good chance the last week of riding may have shifted the junk in the carby into the jets and passages so a very good clean may be needed

The Low Battery as long as its turning over at a reasonable speed shouldn't impact it starting

Other things but as likely but worth checking the inlet stub on the head check for rubber coming away from metal and the tank filter and you have already checked for spark

It common to have what you think is a clean carby only to require further cleaning

main jet clear, emulsifier tube had some crud on it. pilot jet blown through with carb clean . No issues. Blew through all passageways with carb clean and had spray coming out other end. Fuel not an issue so I'm a bit baffled!

battrey won't be a issue..mine starts & runs on the kick with no battrey in the bike..

pull the carb apart and put it in vinager over night... then blow it out with a air/dust gun..

Ok latest is bike is now running. I had the carb off again and took the air flow chamber cover off and found more filter crud. cleaned out and apprehensively drifted the float pin out with my son assisting. We rested the weak post on a vice for support and the pin came out. The float valve assembly came out, very little muck on filter but more of the mystery hair inside the hole. Double checked everything else re-assembled and put back. I had borrowed jump leads just in case! Pulled the choke out hit the start button and bike fired up straight away. Rode to Dartmouth to fill up and test ride and normal service has been resumed. Hooray!
