Finally the smoke is gone and we're getting some indian summer in September, always the best time just anywhere on the west coast, my younger son and I got out camping and riding the past few weekends, great stuff. Wish I had better pics but here's a few. We're riding 70-100 miles a day on these trips, all dirt of one flavor or another, and the bikes just continue to kick arse in comfort. Seems like with a track bike you're spending as much time in the garage as on the bike, the TTRs take so little maintenance.
Looks great, I see you have a gopro on the helmet, any videos ?
I noticed no rego plates, do you need rego to ride areas like this ? In Australia we need rego unless it in a fenced area with the gate closed
Cheers Terry
Hey thanks Terry I do have videos but the editing, I need better software. I'll get something up one of these days.
About the rego, you need a title for any motor vehicle, and to use the vehicle you need registration (which is basically just tax), and for OHV (off hiway vehicles, meaning not legal on pavement) you need an OHV sticker and with that sticker you can ride anywhere in the western states that isn't "paved," subject to a bunch of restrictions that we ignore east of the Sierra/Cascade. The mountains are 95% public land and its all just timber and range so the rules tend to be common sense and courtesy, like don't start a fire, close the gate behind you, don't trash the creek ... Can't get this bike plated anymore because it didn't come with factory emissions approval, which is disappointing because this would now be my dualsport of choice.
Martyn you're freakin me out man, did you go to Burning Man or something? Burning Man, Black Rock desert, was on the other side of the mountain range in the middle of that picture 2 weekends earlier (this is looking NE from the NE edge of the Sierras in California). Come to think of it with the big Acerbis tank I'm in range.
I downloaded VIDEO PAD, it's free & have edited a few & pretty easy once you get your head around it, have now bought the software as I felt it was the right thing to do. I used to use Microsoft movie editor.
