Chain lubrication on the go.

Hello everybody.

I think i have the solution to the age old problem of chain lubrication when out riding.

A very simple device that allows the rider to lube his/her (non sexist) chain, even while on the move.

The simple parts being.

1 A screw top container.

2  Grass mower engine priming bulb.

3 A length of 4mm O/D plastic tubing,aprox 1.5M long.

4 Holding Plate,Ally/Plastic what ever you prefer.

5 Zip ties.

First,find a suitable container with a screw top,between 200/300cc will do.

Primer bulbs can be bought on the internet for as little as £1.20.P1000085.JPG

Trial fit bracket to bike so as not to interfere with anything when on full lock.

Run pipework along frame and secure with Zip ties,to exit above bottom run of the chain, behind the sprocket.

Job's a goodun.

This contraption works fine as I used it on a resent 850 mile trip to Spain on my CRF250LD.

Cheers.

Bert.

What advantage has this got over a Scott oiler or similar?

Ah fair play. To be honest I haven't looked at the price of a Scott oiler. I was just wondering if yours worked better for what you needed..
It looks good btw. Certainly saves some work once fitted..

This is great, thanks for the post!

Could you share a pic of how/where you've mounted the other end?

I fitted both my Dommies with Scott oilers ...using my old engine oil , this looks better, as it doesnt need to be running all of the time....which means less mess on the wheels and tyres....

Kept the chains well lubed though..and clean

great idea,, thanks for sharing
