Tyre advice please

Can anyone suggest a good tyre for weekday commuting with occasional greenlaning. I've been looking at Michelin Sirac and wandered if anyone had any experience with them. Or if any better alternatives. Also if anyone had any for sale etc... Thanks. Tom

I use Heidenau K60 s as my "road" tyres. They grip nicely on the tarmac but still have some bite for the lanes. They don't dig that well in deep mud (lugs not deep enough), and the front doesn't have the side lugs of a proper knobbly, but that's the compromise you make for good road manners and longer life. Also work really well on Spanish trails.

90/90x21 on the front, and I have a nice wide 130/80x18 on the back, which fits fine in the swingarm. They're quite stiff sidewalls so use plenty of tyre soap to get 'em on and seated properly.

A friend of mine uses Mefo Explorers, which are a similar pattern and also worked well in Spain. Can't comment on their lifespan though.

This thread gives some good options:

Just looked at the Sirac. Not quite as knobbly as the K60 or Explorer, but probably better road manners.

I'd rate the mitas e07s over the k60s personally, both good tyres mind!
