wanted inlet cam holder, for inlet cam. It's the large one that centers the cam. might as a slight hairline crack and could do with being replaced at some point.

Sorry to hear of your cracked cam cap Chris.

Be aware that the cam caps are line bored in place and therefore are matched to their cylinder head. Cam caps from another head might not line up exactly but other owners have successfully completed the transplant in the past. You may have to do a bit of fettling to make sure your replacement cap doesn't bind on the camshaft.

I would find a good tig welder to try and beef it up a bit, taking care not to overdo it and warp it. Check carefully for fit afterwards to be sure it doesn't bind. They don't have to work hard to locate the camshaft axially so it might not be terminal.
