Went out today on the WR250R, was very cold & wet but I stayed warm & dry.  Did 200kms & only stopped once to turn the gopro on at the start of the single track.

I had single tracks with wet sand (good ) wet clay ( bad ) twin track, dry weather roads, dirt / gravel roads etc. Got a few videos from today if interested have a look & yes it does rain in Australia, one minute I had sunshine next rain & so on.

Cheers Terry

Hi Guys, how different is our riding in Australia to that in the UK ?

Do you get the single tracks & dry weather roads / summer tracks or is it all mud & green lanes if so I guess we might be indeed the lucky country.

I can do 200kms ( as per the ride featured in the videos ) without a single traffic light & around 20kms of blacktop in total but I do live right at the edge of the Adelaide hills.

Anyhow always interested to hear thoughts & or feedback on the differences in the riding areas across the world, I love the areas the guys in the USA have to ride & they are huge, ridge tops, desert etc.

Cheers Terry

Hey Terry,

Our riding conditions are totally different in UK, here in Northampton its all mud, usually wet and sloppy. Never encounter dusty conditions here, but there are short sections elsewhere. Nothing on the scale you have! We have short trails and have to use blacktop inbetween to connect them. So the majority of my runs end up more road than offroad, just because there isnt enough to connect up.

Mostly single track greenlanes, lots of green, trees, bushes etc.. Usually you just pop out somewhere along a picturesque english hedgerow haha

That's what I thought, I guess it's very different from county to county much like we have in Australia, here in SA we have the Adelaide hills, the Flinders ranges, Victoria has the High country ( lucky buggers ) NSW has the Blue Mountains, Queensland has Cape York etc.

I feel pretty lucky to be able to jump on the TTR or WRR & be on the dirt 5 minutes from home, ride dirt roads, twin track, farm tracks, single track & gravel roads but got to keep a look out for deer from time to time & plenty of roo's, I've hit two in the last 10yrs & come across plenty during my rides

A little while ago I took a pair of Poms riding in the Watagans an hour north of Sydney; they were blown away. We did 160klms of tight 20-40kph forest trails and single tracks without seeing a formed road or a living soul. (And doubled back for a 320klm day).

We stopped at a bush lookout for a re-group, a break and a drink. The lookout looked down about 400 metres to a picturesque rural valley. When it came time to go one Pom was still gazing wistfully into the vista as I walked up to him to tell him to get his **** together or he would be riding on his own. He turned and said to me "how often do you stop here?" "ah, every second or third ride" says I. He was totally blown away when I said I could take him to another 5 more spectacular lookouts within a 30 minute ride.

Ah, we are spoilt - and to think those silly Poms sent us here as punishment; silly Poms.

Yes very true, we go to the Flinders every year & there is no bad spot to stop, went to the Victorian high country 3 months ago & I was blown away, we did 1000kms over 5 days riding & never met another bike, it was fantastic & some of the best riding I've done.

From what I understand the Watagans is pretty much the same, we are indeed very very lucky, I did some quad bike riding in NZ & that was bloody good as well.

Another reason I share my videos is to show off our trails we ride on, they are most likely fed up with my youtube videos LOL

Cheers Terry

Keep on sharing the videos Terry, good stuff.
I agree high country riding is awesome, best riding I have ever done was a three day Tassie Tour. Three days of non stop single track, beaches and hills.

This video was a while back on the XR400R single track Australian bush style, using the 1st gopro hero, video quality not that good, this was the 1st of my 3 gopro's, just showing the vast difference in what we ride

The TTR would be awesome through those singles. Bit lighter than the 400.

Here's another vid of the Watagans if you are interested (not mine). More typical of the trails although these guys are making heavy work of it.

Another video on the XR400 (non TTR video)  this was a good bike with a great engine. The sound track if not blocked is one of my favorite tunes
