Didn't want to start

hi everyone, I went out today to go for a ride and when I went to start the bike it just kept turning over it didn't even try. But when I gave it a little bit of gas(with the choke on) it came to life. But at idle with the choke on it didn't idle up like it always does. I had to keep giving it gas for around 30 seconds before I could turn the choke off and have it idle normal. It sat for a couple weeks with some gas in the carb. Was the carb possibly gummed up or blocked or should I look into getting the valves adjusted? Thanks.

If the choke is working and it idles then I would suggest the carb is probably OK as it wouldn't idle properly if the pilot jet was plugged.

It might well be worth checking the valve clearances so as to eliminate them (or not) as the problem.

I'm going to do another cold start today and see if it was the carb or not. Hopefully it was just plugged.
