OE digital Speedo wire

Just a quick question. I have an OE with standard digital Speedo on it and out the back of it is a blue and red striped wire that isn't connected to anything. Is the Speedo supposed to have a back light at all or does anyone know what on earth that wire is for?

Hi Jordan

Yes it should be back lit, a quick look at the one on the shelf and the blue wire with red band goes to the neutral light on the  cluster.

Hi Steve thanks for your speedy reply unfortunately I meant another wire have a look at the attached pics. I found another blue and white white that goes nowhere either. My Speedo functions all correctly with trip computer and Speedo but no backlight so am thinking that' what these to wired are for.
