Finally got around to fitting the after market TK-P pipe yesterday. I've had it sitting in the shed for 12 months. Been happy enough with the stock pipe and just havent got around to it, but seeing I needed to do the front wheel bearings I thought why not do the pipe at the same time.
Five minutes to whip the old one off and the first thing I noticed was a substantial weight difference between the two. Just a guesstimate but I'd say the TK-P was a good couple of kilos lighter. Perfect fit for the bike as well.
Down to a mates shop who kindly pressed out the old bearing and popped in the new ones. Wheel back on and no wobble whatsoever.
I gave the pipe 24hrs for everything to set and then started her up. Slightly louder with a nice deeper burble. Seemed to be more free flowing. Says 94db so it should be legal. Looks better than the original to i think.
Haven't taken it for a blast yet so I dont know if its really changed anything powerwise etc yet, apart from the weight diff. Hopefully next week i can get out in the bush and give it a test.
Well got it out today for a good run, and have to say im pleasantly surprised. Pipe sounds great, not too loud but definitely more of a deep burble and thump than the original. Seems to flow a bit easier, starts and idles better and much lighter weight wise and looks better as well. Might be a little more in the bottom end maybe, but not much.
