hi all, im nick and i live in north surrey.    one of my many mid life crisis i have just bought a ttr 250.  i rode them ten years ago on a spanish weekend away on the mountain trails and found them nice and simple.

i last rode in anger in my early 20s in the early 1990s when i owned kdx 200s but have ridden road bikes and classic scooters since.

thought that maybe bark busters and no radiator would make falling off a bit easier.........

Welcome to the forum Nick!
The Surrey TRF are some good guys. Watch out for that chalk - slippery when wet!
Ride safe,
Simon.

Welcome to the forum Nick!

Looks like there are a few mods amongst us wink

Sadly I haven't got any photos of my Lambrettas from my teenage years but I did by a TV200 in later life. Pity I didn't hang on to it as they make silly big money these days disbelief

hi brian,  i have 10 scooters at the moment as well as a couple of bikes and the trr.  i mostly ride a 1957 maico 250 scooter. uses a detuned motor and adapted running gear from the 50s scrambler/army bike.

I started motorcycling in 1963 and passed my test on a 1954 Lambretta LD150.

I soon got a proper bike when I bought my 1955 Triumph T100 for £17 10/- (proper money)

Here they are together in May 1967 - quite some years before I got a TTR250.

So right, Johny. The Lambretta would be worth nothing to me. My Dad bought it for £12.00 so that I could get to college on it.
I sold it with a broken prop shaft in about 1969 for £15.00 so I actually made on it.

The Triumph I still have and it's insured agreed value of £10,000 currently so it's made quite a bit but become an heirloom and not for sale.

Here's a modern photo of it

Anyway - it seems this thread's been hijacked a bit, sorry.

Back on topic LOL Nick you can't go wrong with a TTR & trail / adventure riding, not sure about green lanes as it sound like way too much mud for me & the fact I could injury myself on slippery green grass & mud.

We all seem to want to relive our youth & nothing wrong with that, nothing better than good memories of past times, I go away with the lads every year riding bikes & not only do we have a ball riding but the bench racing around the fire at night while knocking back a few beers is really good as well.

Riding on the dirt will keep your mind sharp & improve your riding skills ( well that's the theory ) may not work in my case but it sounds good.

enjoy the TTR & we want photos & or video posted on the forum, we need to have more local UK content as some guy from Australia keep flooding the forum with video from Aus.

Cheers Terry

This sounds fantastic. And why i bought a ttr. Yet due to a few issues have not done this yet , but very much looking forward to doing just this!

Edit: white walls on a postie bike, (old FAQ) looks cool. If i ever buy an rv(motor home), thats the bike i'll be hooking up to it.  This must be the most common bike in .au. (these deliver mail daily all over aust just in case you are unaware) my family had 4 of them, when we ran a p/o in nth qld in the 90's. :)

Trumphs, are always cool!
