Has anyone done one yet? I found a tank at a price I could not miss. I am handy enough, but if someone has done the hard work I will appreciate some info.
Seems to fit well against the seat. Nice job. I bet it took some fiddling around to get right.
Was this advertised as for Honda xr???

I used tufnol to make the mock up. Same thickness and easier to shape. That said, I only drilled 10 holes to get the 6 perfect for the final aluminium cut.
The tank was advertised as an Acerbis XR600/650 tank. It has both plate and rubber frame mount options. Definitely a Clark tank though and only marked XR600 / 650. The seat is ever so slightly pushed more vertical in the front, but the fit is perfect.
Best of all, the shock adjuster is very well cleared, as well as the reg/rectifier. I noticed the original tank has worn some from the reg. No issue on this tank. The right hand side around the frame has lots of clearance - Honda CDI??
Hi Katana, after MUCH research, you've inspired me to do my own Clarke 4.7 gallon tank - any pointers?... how has the tank/mounts held up, are you still happy with it? have you had to make any further adjustments since this post?
The tank is still great. I still haven't put in more than 15l so I assume mine is 18l. The mounts I made out of 4mm aluminum plate. The RHS needed a 25mm spacer as per the photos.
Use tufnol or perspex to make your mock up templates - with the tank empty of course. The rear mount is just a flat rectangular 4mm cut plate. I used the rear strap hook as one side - drilled and bolt with a nilock nut. The tank hole then lines up with another hole - this I made 8mm with the hole threaded.
The seat bracket was also easy. I marked the approx position with pencil. The second attempt was perfect.
Thanks, very helpful. The tank is being shipped at the moment. I'll let you know how it goes and try to post pictures (at least of the finished product). I'm planning to ride the Trans America Trail (TAT) coast to coast this summer, so have been researching bigger tank options and decided on this one based off your post mainly. The Acerbis seemed a bit more daunting (and expensive), and carrying additional fuel in a separate tank isn't appealing when there will already be a lot of weight toward the rear with luggage.
Looks like the other tank i have. I think it holds 19 litres. If you have the same tap as mine, you will have about 10 litres in reserve......!!!! I removed the tap, and cut the main pipe down a bit at a time until i measured about 3 litres in reserve i think.
