No, my garage looks just about as cluttered as your bench - but more dusty.
I work on the "heap" system and know, generally, where to look in which heap to find what I want.

Sometimes it doesn't work so I make another heap elsewhere to find it.

There again - I'm not as productive as you.

Martyn

I kept a clean workshop for years then all of a sudden it hit a full point an the heap system came into play it's been like it for about 3 years now and getting worse by the week. well this week I could stand it no more so there's a skip on the drive this week and its been clear out time and I have had to be savage with the sorting the skips 3/4 full and lot's of bits passed on to mates and put up for sale sum of the stuff I have had for 30 years thinking ho that will come in handy one day. its been hard to part with some of it but I'm just not going to use it and i don't have the room for it I want my shop back as it was when I built it. I just need to get the Triumph Dolomite motor and box and 205Gti motor and box sold an out of there and I can have a room for my bike bench once again.

I know  what you mean Martyn and can empathise with your feelings.  aww

When Mrs. Cubber and I moved from Co. Durham to Devon - just over 7 years ago - I was having a dilemma with my garage.

I was nearly in tears because over 30 years of accumulated garage heap was scheduled for the skip.

I ended up boxing it all and bringing it with me to Devon and that's why my current garage is one big tidy heap now.  doh
