Hello all you friendly folks, I am busy prepping my bike for a 800k + trip and I will feel much more confident about doing the trip if i have a kickstarter.
Anything can happen in the middle of nowhere, flat battery, starter packs up etc... And it will be good to have the kickstart as a backup
I searched some threads, and found that the "KIT" is no longer availible. And a trip to our local Yamaha dealer was a dead end.
Anyone on her that will sell me the needed components as a kit?
Now I have got a quote from my UK supplier £480!!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking overseas, but it looks like my suppliers over there can't get the main axle assembly
Will keep looking!
At this rate you would be better off buying the fully rebuilt engine with kicker that Brian has done for the shop https://totallyttrs.com/epages/699105d9-e4cc-4b32-b236-84e72cd67f84.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/699105d9-e4cc-4b32-b236-84e72cd67f84/Products/TTR-0677

And selling your old engine.
Thanks for the ground work guys. But at that cost, il run start my bike.... If the need arises.
The engine surely would be more suitable for your plan of 800,000 miles (are you sure your figures are correct?- that's quite a few times around the world!)- do you not mean 8k??
I see your location- so you would have to factor in delivery- but that would be the same with any product bought/imported.
I dare say your existing engine would fetch around £450.00 if in generally good nick- so effectively you are getting a good engine & kickstart for the same price as a kick start kit.
There was a TTR250Raid recently for sale on Ebay(UK) with a kickstart- it required quite a bit of work to the engine/no V5(document supporting ownership) etc-I would not have been contemplating this route though if you are planning such a trip.
I don't know if there are any compatible kickstarts sourced through doner bikes- again Brian or Steve would be better suited to answer that.
Perhaps a more cost effective solution would be a new battery & fully test the charging system, carrying spares , so that (if) anything fails, you can replace en route?
